We've moved. But this isn't really a story about an address.

Syné Collective has a new home.

You'll now find us at Level 12, 347 Kent Street, Sydney NSW 2000, inside CorporateCubes.Co — just a five-minute walk from our previous rooms and even more central to the Sydney CBD.

For our existing clients, not much changes. Same therapists, same Syné, just a short walk down the road.

But the move has given us an opportunity to think about something we've cared about since we opened our doors:

Why does going to therapy sometimes feel so hard?

Not the therapy itself. Actually getting there.

Therapy shouldn't become another thing on your to-do list

People stop therapy for all sorts of reasons.

Sometimes the work becomes uncomfortable. Sometimes the relationship with a therapist doesn't feel quite right. Sometimes circumstances change, money gets tight, or someone simply feels ready to stop.

But there are also much more practical reasons.

Finding a therapist with availability after work can mean joining a waitlist for weeks or months. A 50-minute appointment in the middle of a working day can become a two-hour exercise once you factor in travel. Some people spend their lunch break racing across the city, have a deeply personal conversation for 50 minutes, then walk straight back into a meeting.

Eventually, something that was supposed to create space in your life can start to feel like another appointment you have to manage.

And when life gets particularly busy — often precisely when therapy might be useful — it's understandably one of the things that can fall away.

We don't think every barrier to therapy can be solved with a nice room and a convenient address. Therapy asks something of you. It takes time, money, emotional energy and a willingness to show up.

But we do think the experience surrounding it can be made easier.

As easy and enjoyable as your morning coffee

This has been part of Syné's ethos from the beginning.

We wanted accessing therapy to feel less like navigating a medical system and more like making space for something that belongs to you.

No referral to organise. No treatment plan required. No need to convince anyone that you're struggling enough to deserve an appointment.

You choose your therapist. You book directly. And where availability allows, you can generally get started within days rather than months.

Our new location takes another little piece of friction out of that experience.

Couples Counselling & Psychotherapy in the heart of Sydney CBD

You'll find us at:

Level 12, 347 Kent Street Sydney NSW 2000

We're approximately:

  • 5 minutes from Wynyard Station

  • 5 minutes from King Street Wharf

  • 9 minutes from Barangaroo Wharf

  • 10 minutes from Town Hall Station and the QVB

For people working in the CBD, that makes a session much easier to fit around the rest of the day.

Come before work. Step out at lunch. Make therapy the last thing you do before heading home.

We offer appointments Monday to Friday, with after-hours and Saturday appointments available by request, because we know a 2pm Tuesday appointment simply isn't realistic for everyone.

And if getting into the city doesn't work for you at all, we also offer online therapy Australia-wide.

What if therapy felt less like an appointment and more like a ritual?

There's another reason we care about the space itself.

Clinical environments serve an important purpose. But therapy doesn't necessarily need to feel clinical to be meaningful, rigorous or evidence-informed.

For some people, walking into a traditional medical environment can reinforce the sense that they've arrived because something is “wrong” with them.

We wanted something different.

Our rooms are intended to feel like a pause.

A comfortable chair. A closed door. Somewhere to put your phone away, exhale and spend 50 minutes paying attention to something you may not have had time to think about all week.

You don't need to arrive in crisis.

You don't need to have prepared something to talk about.

You don't need to have made measurable “progress” since your last appointment.

Sometimes you come with something enormous. Sometimes you talk about an argument you had on Tuesday. Sometimes you realise halfway through the session that the thing you thought you wanted to discuss isn't really the thing at all.

That's therapy.

At Syné, we often talk about Your Ritual, Your Remedy, Your Reprieve.

For us, the ritual is partly about creating a regular moment in your life where you don't have to perform, produce, manage anyone else or get anything done.

The room matters because it's where that ritual happens.

A space designed to feel like a pause

Our new home is warm, discreet and intentionally a little removed from what you might expect a therapy practice to look like.

There are soft velvet armchairs instead of a fluorescent-lit clinical waiting room. Warm lighting. Colour. Texture. A little personality.

You'll even be greeted by a neon “Happiness Team” sign.

We don't take ourselves too seriously.

We take the work very seriously.

There's a difference.

In the middle of emails, deadlines, traffic, meetings, notifications and everything else Sydney throws at you, we've tried to create somewhere that feels noticeably quieter. Your very own calm amongst the chaos.

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Minds

The move also gave us an excuse to have a little fun with Syné itself.

Our name comes from the Ancient Greek sophrosyne (σωφροσύνη), associated with soundness of mind, balance and inner harmony.

That idea has always sat behind our philosophy: there is a great deal we can learn from the ways human beings have thought about meaning, relationships, identity and the mind for thousands of years — while still drawing on contemporary, evidence-informed therapeutic practice.

Hence:

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Minds.

Our new home somehow captures that perfectly.

347 Kent Street is a contemporary glass-and-steel building nestled between two of Sydney's heritage buildings — old on either side, new in the middle. We couldn't have planned the metaphor better ourselves.

Inside, we've carried that contrast through with the new Syné aesthetic. Our Greek bust remains, only now she glows in neon. Lime green has found its way into the palette. There's a wonderfully bold green staircase.

It's a little brighter, a little bolder and a little more playful.

Still Syné. Just evolved.

The same Collective

The surroundings may have changed, but the people haven't.

Our therapists Tania, Linda and Maria each bring their own experience, personality and therapeutic approach to the Collective.

Across the practice, we support individuals and couples navigating experiences including anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, depression, burnout, stress, grief, trauma, shame, identity, sexuality, ADHD and neurodivergence, relationship difficulties and major life transitions.

Our therapists draw from approaches including psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy, CBT, person-centred therapy, mindfulness and attachment-informed work, and we also offer Gottman-informed couples therapy.

Alongside individual and couples therapy, Syné provides NDIS-funded counselling for eligible plan- and self-managed participants, Workers' Compensation counselling, workplace wellbeing and EAP services, and therapy online across Australia.

Every practitioner at Syné is professionally registered with PACFA or the ACA.

Starting therapy doesn't need to be a big declaration

You don't need to wait until things are falling apart, and starting therapy doesn't have to mean committing yourself to weekly sessions indefinitely.

Sometimes the first step is simply meeting someone and seeing how it feels.

That's why we offer a free 15-minute discovery session. It's an opportunity to meet a therapist, ask questions, talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy and decide whether they feel like someone you could comfortably talk to.

No referral. No obligation.

Just a conversation.
