Syné (pronounced sin-ay) is inspired by the Ancient Greek concept sophrosyne, representing inner balance, harmony and character excellence. It reflects our philosophy: combining ancient wisdom with modern therapeutic insight to support deep growth and calm in everyday life.
It often comes down to your needs, preferences and the type of support you are looking for.
If you want a safe, supportive space to explore your feelings or build coping strategies, and work through personal challenges, psychotherapy or counselling may be a great fit.
If you are seeking a formal diagnoses or assessment of a mental health condition, or you'd like structured psychological treatment, a psychologist might be most appropriate.
If you think you need medication, or have a complex mental health condition that benefits from medical oversight, you'll need to see a psychiatrist.
Many people start with counselling or psychotherapy and then if needed, can be referred onto a clinical professional. You don't have to decide alone. Talking to your GP or a trusted mental health professional can help you work out the best starting point for you.
At Syné Collective, we take a collaborative based approach and will always refer on when needed in cases of complex mental health concerns or professional diagnosis. We have a wide range of professionals in our network that we will be happy to connect you with in the event you need additional support.
In Australia, Medicare rebates are generally not available for counselling or psychotherapy services, as these are usually provided by professionals who are not registered psychologists or psychiatrists. This means most counselling and psychotherapy sessions need to be paid for out of pocket.
Some private health insurance extras cover may offer partial rebates for counselling or psychotherapy, depending on your policy — so it’s worth checking with your insurer.
At Syné Collective, our fees are competitive with the typical out-of-pocket cost you might pay after receiving a Medicare rebate for a psychologist’s session.
We aim to make high-quality counselling and psychotherapy both accessible and affordable.
Many clients find this provides excellent value, especially considering the warm, personalised approach we offer compared to more clinical settings.
