How Group Therapy Works

3
Confidential & Considered
Clear boundaries and expectations are established from the beginning, creating a respectful space where people can speak openly, listen to one another and participate at their own pace.
2
Conversation, not a Classroom
Group therapy isn’t a lecture or workshop. Sessions are conversational and responsive — what comes up between people in the room becomes part of the work.
1
Guided with Intention
An experienced and accredited therapist facilitates each session, helping guide the conversation, make space for different perspectives and keep the group focused on what matters.
As easy as your morning coffee.

Family Therapy
Syné also hosts occasional small, therapist-led groups open to the public, centred around shared experiences, challenges or stages of life. These might explore themes such as grief and loss, burnout, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ experiences, parenthood, relationships or emotional wellbeing.
Places are intentionally limited to keep the experience personal and meaningful.
Upcoming groups are announced through our social channels, community and email list.
Syné is also available to design and facilitate a group for your community, organisation or existing network. If there’s a conversation you think your community needs to have, talk to us — we can help create the space for it.
Each group counselling program is carefully facilitated by experienced therapists to ensure a structured, supportive, and confidential space for all participants.
Therapy doesn’t always need to happen one-to-one. Syné offers therapist-led group sessions that bring people together to explore shared experiences, relationships or challenges in a thoughtful and supportive setting.
Private sessions can be arranged upon request for families, partners, carers or other existing groups, with each session shaped around the people involved and what they want to work through together. This can be a meaningful way to process change, grief or challenges, together.
