Couples Counselling & Relationship Therapy in Sydney

You don’t have to be falling apart to want to find your way back to each other. Couples counselling gives you space to step away from the noise, slow things down and understand what’s really happening between you — beneath the arguments, the silences and the patterns you keep finding yourselves in.

Communication Gaps

Having the same arguments on repeat or feeling like you're speaking different languages.

Intimacy & Sex

Addressing changes in desire, physical connection, or the emotional barriers between you.

You still love each other. So why does it feel this hard?

Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong, but about understanding what happens between two people and the patterns shaping their relationship. At Syné, we provide a neutral, thoughtful space to step outside the recurring arguments and reconnect with why you chose each other in the first place.

Emotional Disconnection

Feeling more like housemates than partners, drifting into silence and separate lives.

Parenting Pressures

Managing the strain of raising a family while trying to keep your relationship a priority.

Trust & Infidelity

Navigating the complex aftermath of betrayal or rebuilding a foundation of security.

Life Transitions

Navigating midlife, an empty nest, or major career changes that shift your dynamic.

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Minds

Relationships have always been complicated. Modern life hasn’t exactly made them easier.

Relationships exist amongst careers, children, families, finances, expectations, exhaustion, phones and the general noise of modern life. At Syné, we strive to help you find calm amongst that chaos.

Couples therapy is a space to slow conversations down, become curious about recurring patterns and make room for things that can be difficult to say to the person you know best.

No referees.
No taking sides.
No deciding whose version of events wins.
Just a thoughtful, neutral space to slow things down, understand what’s happening between you, and see each other — and your relationship — a little differently.

Evidence-informed Couples Therapy, grounded in the Gottman Method

The Gottman Method draws on decades of research into what makes relationships work — and what can quietly pull them apart. Rather than simply revisiting the argument you had last Tuesday, we look at what’s happening underneath it: how you communicate, move through conflict, repair after difficult moments, build trust and maintain friendship, intimacy and connection.

The goal isn’t a relationship without disagreement, because that doesn't exist.

It’s learning to understand each other better when disagreement inevitably shows up.

What does couples counselling at Syné look like?

01

We start together

The first appointment is attended together and explores what has brought the couple to therapy, their relationship and what they would like to work towards.

02

We meet individually

Each partner then attends an individual session with the therapist, creating space to explore personal history, perspectives and experiences.

03

We bring it Back together

The therapist brings the assessment and insights into the ongoing couples work and begins identifying important relationship patterns.

04

we do the work

Ongoing sessions focus on understanding those patterns, improving communication, strengthening connection and working towards the kind of relationship both people want to participate in.
